LPC Supervision with Dr. Brad

Selecting a supervisor along your path towards LPC licensure is one of the most important professional choices you’ll make. A good fit between supervisee and supervisor can make or break a professional growth experience and be the difference between enjoying one’s work or suffering through it.

Mentoring an aspiring professional to help them develop their potential is one of the most rewarding facets of my professional counseling duties. I supervise from a collaborative, respectful position that values my supervisees’ theoretical orientations. While I tend to conduct my own therapy from a blend of CBT, interpersonal therapy, and existential precepts, I don’t expect nor push my supervisees to discard their therapeutic style in favor of my own. My role as your supervisor is to help you to become the best therapist you can be in your own image in accord with your own professional goals.

Supervision sessions will typically involve case consultations focusing on theory, techniques, and ethical factors related to your caseload. We will also discuss issues connected to professional development and career concerns.

My style is laid back and personal. I also have a few expectations for my supervisees. I will expect you to have the initiative and professionalism that are required to take full advantage of your supervised work experience; what this means is that you are expected to come prepared to discuss your cases. I will also expect ethical conduct in your professional activities at all times. Lastly, I will expect that you are passionate about your work and genuine in your desire to develop your counseling competence and maximize your potential. When these conditions are met supervision can be an enjoyable, intellectually stimulating growth promoting experience for all involved.

If this sounds like the kind of supervision that might fit your goals, feel free to give me a call and I’ll be happy to discuss the options with you.

Best wishes,
Dr. Brad
