About Me

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” Maya Angelou.

I have helped individuals experiencing addiction, ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, grief, OCD, PTSD, schizophrenia, and suicidal ideation. More specifically, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages from different cultural backgrounds, including Egypt, Germany, India, Jamaica, and minority groups such as African Americans, Hispanics, and LGBTQ individuals. I particularly focus on helping my clients achieve healthy connections with others because, based on research, these have healing benefits. Therefore, I support my clients to advocate for themselves, addressing unresolved conflict, and setting boundaries. I strongly believe that mental health is achieved holistically—e.g., having a strong sense of purpose, nourishing our mind and body, spending quality time with loved ones, enjoying time in nature, exercising, and practicing mindfulness, gratitude, and forgiveness.

I integrate existential and humanistic approaches, harnessing the power of the present moment to explore events across the lifespan. By empowering you to identify and build upon your innate strengths, you will be well equipped to navigate challenging situations, thought patterns, and behaviors. I would love to collaboratively work with you, fostering agency, courage, perseverance, resiliency, and self-compassion, while guiding you to recognize that, regardless of past experiences, you can shape the life you desire–unlearning ingrained helplessness and embracing your capacity to thrive & flourish.

Drawing on my Colombian heritage and my commitment to holistic healing, I am passionate about dance therapy, laughter therapy, and pet therapy to facilitate stress reduction and emotional expression. I also love implementing structured role-play scenarios to help clients build self-confidence, equipping them with the resilience and skills needed to face life’s challenges. I am happy to provide mental health therapy either in English or Spanish.

My clients describe me as compassionate, empathetic, funny but also objective to help them identify areas of growth, and proactive–providing them with resources tailored to their needs.

In my free time, I love having meaningful conversations with my loved ones, being surrounded by nature & wildlife, dancing, reading, running, biking, and traveling around the world.

I graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Family and Human Development from Arizona State University. I completed my master’s internship at Mercer University Counseling and Psychological Services, and my undergraduate internship at Skelley House (a half-way house in Phoenix, Arizona). While completing my education, I got certified through ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) to help individuals overcome suicidal ideation and recover their sense of purpose. I am also NET (Narrative Exposure Therapy) certified through NET Collect to support clients with PTSD. Additionally, I was part of a wonderful class called Adventure Therapy, which entailed being surrounded by nature as part of a team, playing while keeping a sense of humor, and overcoming obstacles together in order to promote overall wellbeing. Finally, I received a course in traumatology, which highlighted how untreated trauma negatively impacts mental and physical health. I am eager to continue learning and growing as a mental health therapist to continue helping my clients to the best of my ability.

I look forward to working with you!
